Kela is back. This renowned Italian producer should already be familiar to you, as his previous 3 EPs on Delta9 Recordings have smashed dancefloors around the world. Representing at the forefront of gigantic bass construction and progressive sound design, Kela's latest work pushes these boundaries even further. Made for dancefloors but enjoyable in headphones as well, this EP firmly establishes Kela at the forefront of modern drum and bass. Delta9 Recordings is excited and proud to finally present: Downset.
The opening track, Early Death, begins with an epic orchestral intro through which wobbling reece basses slowly emerge, bringing the track to its first drop and launching into Kela's trademark punchy rhythm-work balanced exquisitely with a fat, round bottom end.
Title track Downset invites the listeners to “feel the sound”: huge rolling beats give the track a sense of speed as the masterful synth-work provides a wide and clear field for the listeners to lose themselves in. These basses have to be heard to be believed!
Step by Step wastes no time getting started, with industrial clinking percussion tickling the ear as the arpeggios rise and the kicks gather, going 4-4 briefly before the basses wobble and the track drops into a gorgeous roller, the likes of which will have necks snapping on dancefloors everywhere.
Sunset is Kela at his funkiest. A pitched vocal echoes through thick reverb, summoning thoughts of warehouse raves and lasers shooting through the smoke. A robotic voice emerges from the mist, slowly becoming bassier and bassier until the track drops and the synths talks to you, and you can't help but listen. The track will be released a week after the EP for free.
